Welcome to year 7 of our MathRocks! contest series!
This registration is for our March MathRocks! contest (also known as Contest 5) ONLY.
If you are already registered for the MathRocks! Series - do NOT register for this event also (see Registrations in your MyNNVMath.org account).
WHO: All students in grades 1-12
WHEN: 1st round begins at 10 AM for all in-person and online participants
WHERE: For students in the Reno/Sparks area, contests are in person at UNR (each level will be assigned to an engineering and that will be their building for the year. Check-in is at the William N. Pennington Engineering Building (WPEB), 1st floor.
For students OUTSIDE the Reno/Sparks area (in quarantine, or who meet another of the online option criteria), contests are online. The window for taking rounds will start at 10am and students will have approximately 3 hours to complete their rounds (similar to those who are participating in-person).
ROUNDS: Number Sense - 80 questions, 10 minutes
Sprint - 20 questions, 30 minutes
Focus - 4-5 problems, 10 minutes
Explain - 1 problem, 5 minutes (this is an experimental round and may change or be removed)
Team - 10 questions, 20 minutes (teams are composed of 3 to 4 students)
High school also has Estimation (15 problems, 10 minutes)
Students who ALSO register for the CML grades 2-8 or Mathematics League High School contest, will take that contest after the MathRocks! Team round. NOTE: There are separate registrations and only available to students who are able to attend in-person.

If planning to participate in multiple contests, please consider the MathRocks! Series registration is highly recommended. Not only does it save you money but it guarantees your student is expected when they arrive.
